Buddy de Franco recorded these tributes to fellow clarinettists Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw in 1957 on 5 LPs, now made available on CD in 2 volumes.
The extended sessions on four consecutive days involved two different groups though the guitarist Barney Kessel was present on most of the tracks. The first two sessions included trumpeter Don Fagerquist, tenor saxophonist Georgie Auld and pianist Carl Perkins while the second group included trumpeter Ray Linn and another modern jazz pianist, Jimmy Rowles
